Smooth 87.7FM Radio is launching a monthly jazz series at the Montrose Room at InterContinental Chicago O’Hare, starting with the Smooth 87.7 Holiday Event starring CSPS singer Lisa McClowry on Saturday, December 10th. Celebrating the release of McClowry’s new holiday CD, “Do You Hear What I Hear,” McClowry will perform jazzy holiday classics, and put guests in the spirit of the season.

We are pleased to announce that CSPS mezzo-soprano Anita Chari has been accepted into the Bay Area Summer Opera Institute (BASOTI). She is cast in BASOTI's 2010 production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte for the role of the "Third Lady", as well as in staged scenes from Bizet's Carmen and Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri.

Congratulations to Sarah Huffman for getting a role in "Pride & Prejudice" with Chamber Opera Chicago.

CSPS Congratulates Michele Woods who has recently joined South Shore Opera Company of Chicago.

Soprano Tina Pearsall has been selected to join the Saracuse Opera chorus for the 2009 season.











Mezzo Soprano Laura Boguslavsky joins the Chicago Symphony Chorus.











Soprano Lela Philbrook won the $1500 Farwell Award in the 133rd Annual Musicians Club of Women Vocal Competition.

Regina Webster

CSPS soprano Michele Woods was the winner of Looptopia's first ever Chicago Opera Idol.

Lisa McClowry joined "Jim Peterik and World Stage" in concert at the Moraine Valley Performing Arts Center.





Melanie Davis

Melanie Davis was cast as "Phyllis" in the Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta "Iolanthe" which will be produced by the Savois Aires in Evanston, IL.









CSPS just recently submitted 4 singers in 3 different vocal age divisions into the 81st Annual Society of American Musicians Competition. ALL 4 singers placed. All 4 are the students of Janice Pantazelos.

They are:
Junior Division (15-18)
1st place Winner: Samantha Farmilant (17)
Honorable mention: Julia Bard (15)

College Division (19-21)
2nd place winner: Lela Philbrook

Young Artist Division
1st place Winner: Akilia McCain

Regina Webster

Regina Webster appeared in Shirley Lauro's play "A Piece of My Heart" at the Attic Playhouse in Highwood, March 14-April 19. Regina also took part in Bailiwick's Director Fest in
June and Circle Theatre New Plays Festival in August. She was also featured in the ensemble of the Light Opera Works production of Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" for a series of performances in December.

Regina Webster played Jack's Mother in a production of "INTO THE WOODS," by Theater Hikes. Performances were held
in Lisle at the Morton Arboretum. Shows were held on February 7 and 8 at 1 p.m., February 13 at 8 p.m., and February 14 and 15 at 1 p.m.

Ladies Sing the Blues

Belinda Belk, Lindy Thomas, Cecilia Anderson and Meredith Salamunovich were featured in "Ladies Sing the Blues" with pianist Carl Haan at the Big House Show Lounge.
